You'll probably all think I'm nuts, LOL, but thats okay...I'm not this bad off, but have been...we write what we know, I guess=0).

My highs are too high and

My lows are too low, but

Feed me some Prozac and

Watch me go.

Do the Mood Swing.

Laughing too hard at

Jokes with no humor

Neighbor saw me crying

But that’s just a rumor.

Do the Mood Swing.

Find me a room with curtains drawn tight

A dark little place to shut out the light

And equipped with a bed that’s stained with regret

That I might cover myself and try to forget

The rotted silence of hopeless fears

The swirling abyss of wasted years

That measures my existence from minutes to hours

Madness growing like poisoned flowers

Here in this blackness where echoes scream

Keeping time as I do The Mood Swing…

END

I like this a lot. Remember the days, when your "moods" were you? The moods that gave us shame and guilt, fed our depression, then we chose to remove them. Some didn't want to believe, but everyday is proof that miracles do happen. The secrets are leaving, your "letting go," congrats... Dave

Being able to recognise it for what it is is half the battle to overcoming the overwhelming sensations, moment by moment. I am sure we can ALL identify with the "helplessness" of such mood swings, to a greater or lesser degree. But the "mood" isn't "you" per se - it is just itself, and not madness or anything like. It rather goes with being a sensitive, creative psyche, I tend to think: open to the influences that we pick up all around us and owning them as "ours". Remembering to live "in the moment" is good, because then we don't get sold into the idea that "it is always going to be like this". I have this kind of "disorder" running in my family, and both my daughter and I have lived with chronic fatigue-type illnesses for many years that could make us further prone. But living one hour at a time is the best way to cope, knowing that things will always be changing and we will always "win" and get through... Again, you lift the lid on such oppressions that can otherwise isolate us and make the four walls close in. It is of great value to share and talk about these things so that others can identify and hopefully be encouraged. Bless you. TY Kate xx

Okay and you know sometimes it helps to have these mood swings. It can keep a few away that seem to bug you. But you are really not alone in this. I have had my ups and downs a whole lot. More than I care to really say.

George you will be surprised to know that there are more people right now who suffer depression/bi polar related illness than any other kind. Yes, it is like an epidemic as one therapist put it, discussing the subject, on TV. Also, it seems the most affected are famous people especially of the arts, literature, films, music, etc. So don't ever feel that your mood swings are yours alone;-) Although you may want to own them, there are oodles of others that have them too.
However you write about it better than anyone,so there!!! That you can own, your wonderful poetry!;-)
