......

She came to me again last night, in

Dream-like hues of monochrome, a

Familiar apparition that somehow found

Her way to where I stood once more, and

She called my name, this woman from my

Waking world, here among the sun-dappled

Trees of a forest created just for this moment

Because

Only a place such as this could ever match

The figure that moved toward me in her

Beauty, where a soft breeze paid homage

By sending leaves to dance about her naked

Feet, long dark hair free of any ties dancing

With them as she turned her head to face me

As if hearing the thunder that was my heart

And

Perhaps she could, yes perhaps, this yearning

That filled my existence, a rushing torrent of

Words unsaid carried along by that sighing

Breeze, in this fairytale glade where anything

Was possible, if only one had the courage to

Embrace what is right and good, to open up

And say I love you even once upon a time

Without

The burden of feeling insignificant, stuff of

Poets scratching lines with fevered pens, this

Dream of she that walked toward me, lifting

Her arms to still my restless weeping soul, her

Eyes oh her eyes like dark gems of priceless regard

As they gaze through the very heart of all I long

To be, her smile a portrait brush stroked forever

Across

The canvas of my life and telling me that

What I am is enough, before I am lost in her

Arms…

And

The dream

Fades

Away…

END

You have captured something uniquely mystical in this write, I think, George: the very words "I love you!" are so powerful and perhaps so earth-shatteringly difficult to utter from the deepest part of us, that only the kind of vision that you paint here could give us the momentum and confidence to do it, to speak those hallowed words... and the funny thing is, that when we DO find the moment to say this, then that is possibly how it is we see our beloved actually at the time: you have described the great epiphany of the "I love you!" here! Just magnificent! TY Kate xx

Haven't read anything as touching as this poem in my whole life. You have captured lost love's intensity so well that it makes my heart want to shout bravo to your poeic genius for creating this masterpiece that contains so much love for a lost soul mate. This is love, expressed in the purity of your soul. I shall want to keep this and read it many times.
