As I submit her poems, I try to include notes that she made on her written pages. Her note on this one was "Old person with perplexed look"
I dreamed that I was alive
And all I knew while
I lived was a dream -
The joy, the pain, the love
Or, the lack of all.
Dreams can be vague.
And now I say this
In what state or why?
To die perhaps
So I may awaken
To new dreams
Or to life
Or merely death.
Every past day, or moment,
And its experience
Is like a dream remembered
But most usually forgotten.
Se la vie.
Oh, the pain of meaninglessness.
How can it be that breath
And heartbeat chime
To the rhyme of yesteryear,
Out of tune with now
And unknown to forever?
