A hymn to parting day.
Oh, see the dimming glory.
The sun is going away.

Fell the failing breeze of twilight
As it sighs along the shore.
The faintest prick of star shine
Pierces my heart once more.

Did the moon forget to come?
Is it late or overdue?
Where did April go this year?
Or is it merely tardy too?

I cannot wait forever
Nor even abide for now
The mist of night is falling
Soft on my pallid brow.

My senses are all dissolving
I am drifting toward the void
Where time succumbs to limbo
And peace for the soul full cloyed.
