One lifetime is enough
Regardless of its years.
Awareness is so potent
It expands the gulf of tears
That define the boundaries
Of all the hopes and fears
Of living and dying, and
Existing in spite of.
Weep not for what those dead have missed.
Rejoice for the same.
True a silver lining each cloud has -
But does it negate the cloud of real?
To each his own experiential world
Apart from others, all.
No one else has yours or mine
Each is all in all.
So be content for those now gone
And for yourself as well.
Enough is what it is, itself
Both good or ill.
Beyond is only more or less,
The flavors yet the same.
Perspective yields a measure true
Of all magnified or miniscule,
Still of essence true .
The flavor is the tasting.
Redundancy is its own excuse
For not being.
Let it go, life, that is.
Surely all it cannot be.
Take its measure,
Count its value
Not finality.
After all, why is hope?
Surely not to be interred within the grow.
Let hope live, Let life die,
And be surprised when fate wills
Yea or nay, but surely different.

This is a gorgeous expression of your mother's intuitive feelings. I especially liked the last 3 lines. She was a true poet with much to share. Thanks for giving us the opportunity to read...

I agree with this poem. One lifetime is enough. This vail of tears that we live on. I do not have any desire to pass this way again.

Robin Ouzman Hislop's poetry is certainly in dialogue with some of the key architects of the 'poetics of indeterminacy' – both the Modernist strands represented by the likes of Beckett and Stein, and the postmodernist strands represented, initially,
