Years, and therefore character
Have moved into her face.
No longer merely reserve,
Uniform and placid.
Now subtly lived, deepened
Uniquely curved and set!
Set in several attitudes
All at once earned by
Love, regret, disappointment, unexpected joy,
Life at play - Life at living in her.
She has been becoming herself each moment.
If she should die now, she truly would have become
A truth, her own truth
And ours to behold and say yes to.
I couldn't help but notice the date this little gem was penned on..it's very apparent that after all these years...it still holds many fond memories and meanings to it's poet!
