I remember the sounds
Of my neighbors children
Moments ago.
Gone are they now
They will not echo long,
I think, In my memory
Or in the cosmos.
They were
And now they are not.
Yet they were
And for a few moments
Of my life,
I said, "They Are."
The children have gone to supper
And to bed.
But still I hear their forays:
"You're it,"
"I got you,"
"You are dead."
The waves of their sound
Now are dead
And they have gone to supper
And to bed.
Tomorrow
And
Tomorrow.
And
Tomorrow?
