Mine is the voice Of music Unobligated to words Of brazen message But to insinuate Above and Beyond power Of verbal language. How I envy that rival Who says abstractly All and more Than my halting Harsh and lame words Without blame or censure. Yet I bow before her Contrite for my inferiority - But grateful that she exists To vindicate me - My words - Longer than history Can decipher And more poignantly Than I invite. Written by Addie W.
