This poem is much different from her usual way of writing. I, myself am not sure of what it means, but decided to share it anyway. It is even confusing to me. Sometimes her poems are that way.
One thing only
Can we think upon
At once -
But that one thing
Draws upon the all
We have thought before.
All experience and a priori
Metaphor
And simile,
Whatever you acknowledge
When you address me
Is all I've ever been
Or known
Or aspired to.
So Beware -
There is more.
If you trust me
It's because of that
Which you perceive
In me
To agree
With values
That are yours.
Beware - .
There is more.
If you love me
It's because
You leap
And do not see
Or care to
The depths
Behind my eyes
As I reveal to you
What appeals to you.
Beware - .
There is more.
And if, perchance,
Me, you despise
You'd be wise
To beware - .
For there is more.
