Upon these bare pages
Heavy with blankness
The muse will come
To move my laden hand
And leaden mind.
The muse will come
To squeeze from out my heart
The ink to draw the words
That darn
My very breath with fear
That truth will bleed instead
With color crayon red.
The muse will come
No sudden pen prick
No magic automatic script
Just a gentle message of clogged desire.
Then in residence
The muse will hold her light above my shoulder
And watch my hand and be amused.
