How great to be alone
Hid from the turbid out there
As in my leaf-rooted tree house
Of childhood.
A riot of pink azaleas press against the glass
Of my February sanctuary,
Trembling in chill wind and pale sun.
And here am I
In quiet contemplation
Of cosmic duration
In perfect isolation.
