Bored with the languor of luxury
we went instead with the wistful wisdom
of the peaceful Peruvian windsurf guru
into the dockside tenements of
downtown continental living:
flat-fronted, fluorescent-lit
plastic-tile floored and walled -
everything designed disposable
save the warm and scented ambiance,
the generosity of honest welcome
like a global homecoming to
a matriach's all-encompassing embrace
Mein Host is Swiss and,
father to the family of man,
he feasts us here with simple fare -
all the more nourishing
because of the love-vibe going down:
back-slapping as he passes by
pressing us to take whatever drinks
we fancy from his shelves and frig
delighting to show off his
tempting postre
showering us freely with
homely hors d'oeuvres
and burning liquor tots
We're all bums here of the beach variety
from the savvy Germans to the elfin Slovaks;
from me in my softest chic black leather
to him in his silken Turkish trousers
All conjoined in the one aim:
to celebrate our gift of life together
to share the gift of one another
to celebrate the fact that we all
are and are not
Existentialists
together
Decadence can be shadowed by genuine fun. Your backdrop in this dreamy poem has a welcoming honesty to it. I have to say that I really liked this one bunches! :0)
Very inviting!
