An edited version of "Tumbling Through Space", which was originally based on thoughts from the film "Armageddon"

LIGHT YEARS AWAY

Are we tumbling through space,
an intermingled fusion
of legs, arms, lips and bodies
locked together,
planet with satellite,
bound by our irresistible gravitational pull?

Are our thoughts
the space through which we travel
without beginning or end,
with no way of knowing
which is you
and what is me?

Stars burst
like our ever-expanding
and contracting heartbeat
ad infinitum
across endless milky ways...

And are we destined to continue
forever falling
silently through ether?
Or will we yet discover
a real life
back here on earth,
and a place
where the mingled souls of our feet
can make fresh prints
together?

* * * * *

Do we know for sure that,
instead of suspended animation,
the earth will yet move
and the promise of heaven
can wait?

Is this science fact
and not science fiction,
that we exist
a world within a world
in an infinity
called Home
behind the blinding light
of each other's eyes?

Very skillfully crafted, Kate. Really liked the way you tied things together in the last verse. "..we exist a world withing a world in an infinity called Home behind the blinding light of each other's eyes.." Doesn't get any better than that! Bravo!

Oh yes, Kate, the earth will definitely be the place
to live...after it is cleansed by the Master. The book
of Isaiah fortells a future time when sickness, death,
sorrow, and war will be done away with. The nice thing
is...it isn't fiction.
You can sure come up with some thought-provoking poems!

Hmmm.... Dear Kate... I didn't see Armageddon, don't read or watch Science Fiction, unless you count Star Wars and Star Trek (no, I didn't think so... sigh. lol) but my son, Adam, tries to engage me in chat about parallel universes and the "string theory"... I listen very closely (I love my son!) and I try to learn, eventually remembering that I just don't understand this stuff! Sigh... Perhaps my brilliance is meant for something altogether different, eh? LOL... BUT... I can read and I can admire and I did both with your poem. So there! (grin) katy xox.

"Light Years Away" brings light to my mind and ignites its imagination to fly on the wings of time light years back to find my charter course.

Thank You for posting this psychobiological fuel to service the Sapceships' Commanders.

I salute You, Sublime Poet!

we are a microcosom witin a macroscosom ad infinitum ... though as individuals we evolve and endure through the multidimensional reality unless we are not ready and remain here on earth ...

i like how you put your thoughts together in the last verse ... very thought provoking ...

Kate you are the thinkers thinker!;-) You provoke thought and present premise that must be considered, which is what makes poetry so fascinating! Kudo's!

We exist in all time in different aspects of ourselves over eons, which will meet up together as a whole when we are finally in the continuum where time no longer exists. (Just my humble opinion.;-)

Yes Kate...I believe in the scenario " that we exist
a world within a world " or as I like to put it sometimes " A frame within a frame " within other supernatural dimensions in the ethers of time .

Some extremely profound questions here, Kate, and I really liked the movie Armaggedon, too.

But when I often think about your questions, I find myself vacillating between believing it is all just a hodge podge of intergalactic luck of the draw, with us often spinning aimlessly out of control, to there must be a Divine plan in all of this - somewhere.

Now, thanks to you, I will have to ruminate some more.
