An adaptation of an old theme...

NAKED

Death By Exposure

What if,
instead of a numbing freeze,
there comes in the end
a consuming uterine warmth
bedding you covered
in a dark dough of love:

Shielding your nakedness
Swaddling your insecurity
Affirming your ultimate value

Causing your spirit to rise
yeast-like and agent of change?

Fingers of fear
clutching icily at a fragile heart
makes the threat of nakedness
to be more dreaded than frostbite

But maybe Death By Exposure
is a good thing if you are reborn
to be fully known in love,
all vulnerability gone

Yet the mystery remains
as long as heart's winter
is postponed,
languishing lonely instead
amidst a sunny crowd
on life's Riviera

Hotly grasping the clothes of a tan
Coldly trusting its steely veneer
as it is thinly applied
by the heart-shrivelling rays
of summer's confidence

nah, i am not going back in my mom's uterus!
I love her,and would not put her or myself
thru the torture and embarressement! lol
ok ok sorry.........couldn't resist being goofy!

actually I find this pretty intense and original
I often refer to the concept of prenatal comfort
in my own poetry........back as close to the creator
as we can get.....embryonic.

I like this ending

Hotly grasping the clothes of a tan
Coldly trusting its steely veneer
as it is thinly applied
by the heart-shrivelling rays
of summer's confidence

just another temporary mask we don, during our lives...........

this is pretty deep incredible wording here Kate........
awsome~

I think that would be wonderful; and what an intriguing poem you have penned - yet, again!

YOu just surpassed yourself with this one Kate!Kudo's!
What a concept. Although I have a poem I've been working on that doesn't say uterine warmth(fantastic image) but a similar analogy.
If I ever finish it you'll see what I mean. To be honest it's in with a long list of unfinished poems;-) This reminded me. ...Your approach is awesome. your metaphor brilliant!
