FLOOD TIDE


Moment by moment, the hours pass
in heartbeats dictated only by
the rhyme and rhythm of love;

Time being measured by space between
the peaks and troughs of love's experience.

Closeness that is not physical, but spiritual;
Not spatial, but special;
Not evident, but inwardly apparent.

Love's ebb and flow:
Time and space caught up together
like shoreline shingle, gathered and taken by
pounding surf and kissed
by jealous foam.

Love is a beach of sand and sea
which does not exist apart from
the two coming together.

I am the sand,
You are the sea.
Love is the face of the moon,
our gravitational pull.

The existence where we hold
each other's entirety suspendedly animate.

Love's life is ebb and flow.
It is rhythm,
Balance,
Counterbalance,
Tension...

Ask not for endless flood,
but equally inhabit the gentle eddy
which kindles by degrees
the gathering energies of
the next tidal wave.
