Sadly, Kate is only my second name but is the one I prefer to be known by. Names are so important, don't you think? They are perhaps the embodiment of who we see ourselves to be... LOL KATE !! xx

CALL ME

I was lost,
until He called me;
cast adrift and rootless;
without past and with future uncertain.
Until He called me.

I was invisible, in nowhere, in pain -
until He called me by Name.

Like Mary in the garden,
I then knew who I was;
when He spoke my Name,
I knew I was somebody:
somebody I now know
to be Me.

Kate:
Knowing where I am;
where I have come from;
where it is I am going -

But not yet knowing
who it is I will be.

You are so right a lot is in a name, I was given mine (Felix) after my Dad but to avoid confusion when I was young they called me by my seccond name until I started school and insisted I be called Felix cause I was proud of my Dad, a World War II Vet. The loves of my life all called me Felix so I can certainly understand this write and know how much it means to you as well, You trapped the importance of having someone you love..be it parent, friend, child or lover call your name to you. Nice one Kate,

Very keen perception Kate! deep and meanignful reaching into the core of things. We know many things, but the one thing you speak of, what we will be, is the mystery He holds in His hands. I have a saying that I may be clay here on earth but in heaven I'm going to be
china;-)presumptious of me;-)...we can always hope...excellent poetry!

as we create ourselves, we guide our identity to become what it already is, nameless ...

Knowing who we are is easy, knowing where we are headed is a bit trickier. I always think I have it all mapped out then I hit a detour sign. Nice write, Kate.
Take care,
Sherry

An Extremely Powerful Piece, Kate.

Since He called once, He will call again, and then you will truly know who you will be - eventually.

Kate,

"I was lost,
until He called me..."

O, what a beautiful introduction!

"...When He spoke my Name
I then knew who I was;...." YES!!!!!!!!!

And as to who you will be? As long as you are His child, does it matter? Lean not on your own understanding; follow Him, and He will let it be known!

I love, love, love your faith in this one--thank you for sharing. :) Well written, introspective, clever piece--BRAVA

(((HUGS))) and love, Karla. :)
