This poem is a direct hit, Kate. Becoming part of the whole and working toward a common goal benefits all of us. It doesn't matter which spoke you are, you are still an integral part of the wheel of life. I love that Hendrix song, too!

when we sacrifice our sovereignty we find we are taken over by the universal need to reach into everyone ... and that's not a bad thing ;)

Very nice poetry. Breached sovereignty would be an awful thing. Yet here, it seems as though it were given up willingly for the benefit of others.
