A re-write

FALLING

Tumbling through space...

An intermingled fusion
of legs, arms, necks and bodies:
planet and satellite locked together,
bound by our irresistible gravitational pull.

Stars burst like our
ever-expanding
and contracting heartbeat,
ad infinitum
across endless milky ways.

Our thoughts the space
through which we travel,
no beginning, no end
and no way of knowing
what is you, what is me.

Are we destined to fall
forever through ether?
Or will we discover
real life way back here,
and a place
where the mingled souls
of our feet can make
fresh imprints together?

Do we know for sure
that the earth will yet move
and that heaven can wait?
That this is science fact
and not science fiction?

A great pen of thoughts Kate. I often wonder if when awake I'm actually dreaming. WTG

we may be destined to fall but never wavering from our impulse to rise ... this poem reevaluates our will to evolve spiritually and psychologically so that our character becomes an eternal fact ...

totally awesome delivery and perspective ...

What a marvelous mind you have, dear girl.

Another strong reminder of the precarious nature of life: caught between the cold of outer space and the heat of molten lava.

I used to like Buck Roger's in the 25th century when it was in the movies in the 1930's. Wasn't so far fetched the way things have turned out.

Sometimes it is very difficult to differentiate between sci fi and science fact. Life, I often think, is one giant freefall where we may twist and turn to chamge our course a little but basically eventually we have to crash to get the full affect. Wonderful imagery and word play in this one Kate. Well done,

Felix

We've said we are kindred spirits, but you are far more prolific with words than I will ever be. Your vocabulary astounds me! Beautiful poem, Kate.

I picture you, darlin' Kate, with a huge barrel of words... toss 'em all over and, because you are enchanting, smart and clever, bid them fall exactly where you tell them to... and... Voila! My head gets to view the results... you're spoiling me, lovely friend. There is so much pleasure in weaving my way through your word wizardry. I always feel smarter when I read you. (smile) katy xox
