Shakespeare, Virginia Woolf and our own up-and-coming young poet, Jacob Polley, a potent inspirational mix!! A kind of sequel to "Transcendental"... I think! :)) K xx

QUEEN

A blazing sweetness drips
from the convex mirror of your lips;
your burnished truth a shield:
I your emblem, you my coat of arms.

Feed me your honey
oozing sensuous from the comb;
let me suck the bone of your fingers
deep in moist womb of my mouth.

For my abdomen swells
to the throb of your hum
and my wings vibrate
like the skin of a drum
their shimmering,
translucent membranes.

Dust of delicate stamens' gold
striping bronze across my cheeks,
brands me with your mark, your seal.

Your solar stream thickens
a viscous sugar syrup;
Sun's energy come to earth,
fierce golden rods melting
into pools of topaz light.

The hive alive and electric.

Hello Kate,

I just came across this poem, which bears the same name as a poem I wrote and decided to post on Author's Den a few years ago. I truly enjoy your lyrical style and imagery. Bravo! Will check out more of your posts. You too share the passion for the written word. Thank you for sharing.

I've had to do some catch up again. You've been busy in my absence. This poem is absolutely magical. I have read it over and over and each time I find something new. Your creativity and ability to express is a wondrous thing. May your star ever shine bright in the firmament. You belong up there with the greats Queen Kate.

Kate, never ever leave here but please publish these and give them to the whole world a million times over. There are only a handful of poets I feel this way about - your poetry rises to the top and lifts all who read it. I think I could read this a dozen times and still want to keep it to come back to again. I mean every word of that. Dawn

The images you paint are perfection, the rhythm you create is unstoppable and the sensual emotions that you relate are stirring to say the very least. Magnificent write, Kate.
Take care,

Spot on, Eileen! Methinks you are talking about Dame Glenda Jackson, turned later MP!! She starred in a 70s BBC series called "Elizabeth R", if my feeble memory serves me right - Turner will probably fill us in if he's finished packing his toothbrush. Yep, she was our Virgin Queen, ho, ho!! The finger says it all... she had quite a sting in HER tail, I reckon!! :)) Kate xx

Spectacular Kate! I have in my mind a picture of one Queen Elizabeth as she was portrayed with her finger in her mouth. It was said she had the habit from childhood, but tried to keep it hidden, until she got older, and didn't give a damn. It was a fabulous series and I can't remember the name of the actress who played the part , but she is from the UK. Short Red hair, became quite famous.Maybe you'll know her;-)...Loved the sinuous, sensuous way you did this one . You are masterful Kate!;-)

Came back to see, and sure enough you had her name. Thank you Lady Kate!;-)She's a huge favorite of mine and can't understand how one can forget a name, but it has been a long time since I've seen her.;-)Though that's no excuse! Is it?LOL!;-)hehehe

You Look FatCalgary by RickthePoetWarrior

Using Calgary as a backdrop the author satirizes the self-serving nature of the public as it continues to fatten itself, not only physically, but egotistically as well.
