Goodness me, the cycle of pain sends us all the way round the Ferris wheel of sentiment, doesn't it... here's a pithy little piece like wot I haven't done in a while. As I have been given to understand from a Short Story Tutor, so-called "wisdom" teaching is perhaps more part of the American writing culture than it is back here, so you may like this more than me... or not, as the case may be...!! :)) LOL K xx Had my left hip freed today - yey!! I can at last sit down!

TAPESTRY

Life is a secret burning thread -
threaded through a needle of choice.

Your fabric of time is stretched on a frame
and there your days are woven in stitches.

Sometimes your needle is Jehovah Rapha,
mending your tears;

At others it is a wicked stepmother's plot,
injecting your heart with poison.

But your tapestry is testimony
to the decisions you make,
so choose your needles carefully:

Making your thread of solid gold
embossed with wisdom's pearls.

PS Think Carole King would be cringeing at this!! :)) Sorry, Carole: "It's too late"!!

So what, Carole King?
I liked this piece, Kate, very much!
Just like most of your work, it contains thought-provoking wisdom.

Kate,

You sew wisdom perfectly through each thread; an excellent write! And glad you can sit now. :)

Choose your needles carefully - a very wise bit of poetic advice, Kate. Thread On!

life's tapesty has a tendency to unravel itself until we use thread of wisdom and then it becomes a blanket of hope ...

excellent imagery, Kate ...

Carole would sing her praises, I'm sure...Yes I think we Yanks do appreciate 'wisdom' writes Katy because we are as a whole a philosophical and introspective lot. I appreciate this write. It reminds me of the samplers stitched with threads of wisdom from colonial times...

I think it's lovely and very richly decorated tapestry of words from your soul.

Hmmmm... are you suggesting, Kwik Kate, that we Americans take "wisdom" lessons? Oh, my, if that's true there are sure a bunch of folks who must not have heard the school bell ring and missed the class entirely! Ha!

HOWEVER... I would like to suggest that you hang out a bit longer with this particular piece, as I believe you will come to love it as I do. Your metaphors are untouched by a poet's pen... they belong entirely to you... and now to me, to us.

Your hip? em... I missed something, I guess... sounds like good news, having a free hip. Yes, by all means, SIT! Sit and giggle... sit and comtemplate... go sit in the corner, as long as you're sitting! Hurray! (smile) Kalamity katy xox

I don't think "Carole" has an exclusive on the word, "Tapestry." Very good write, Kate. I like the idea of the needle going up and down, carrying us through hills and valleys.

Splendid advise and when you get old you can look back at this tapestry you have woven and may even burn it. LOL
