LOVING MIRAGE

Brilliant light and wind dance today,
a pas de deux Flamenco;

whipping sand to jewelled frenzy,
raining mirrored fragments
like fiery solar beads.

My heart, fragile as glass,
responds to their chimes,
skips a beat as unseen hands
lay diamond dust threaded
soft about my neck:

like garlanding a beloved.

"a pas de deux Flamenco;"

Ah, yes, 'tis the voice of a woman familiarizing herself with the marvelous act of shedding stress. Your poetic generosity reached out and brought me ease, too. That quote up there, like the entire piece, pleasured my need for imagination. If words are like grains of sand, you, dear heart, are an entire coastline! Lovely... katy xox

Another exceptionally beautiful write, Kate! Well penned! I especially love the last stanza ... ...

" ... My heart, fragile as glass,

Reminds me of the fairy tale about the girl who every year was given a drop of rain on a neckless for her first 10 yrs of life, as he was her god father, each drop had magical powers.

I too sadly know another meaning.lol

The salt air is working wonders for your poetic gifts Kate !
You convey a lot in precise and succinct terms
"My heart, fragile as glass,
responds to their chimes, "

Chuffed to find that an alternative meaning of "garland" is a selection of prose or poetry! Well, I never knew that... :)) K xx
