TINY STITCH

“Oh, you better relax,
you’re attached to the
universe
by the tenderest of
chances:
make allowances.”

Richard Price – “In your generous hours”

I hold on

to the space between my children's smiles,
to the unfolding of fresh laundered light;
to the feel of warm and twisted sheets,
to the sound of migrant geese in flight…

Hold on by each slender, minute breath –
in and out, and never seen again;
sweet vaporous thread which keeps me sewn
as fragile fabric in life’s collage…

I am not here by chance - and it is the one
I have been given: the only one I have
to live, to love;

to connect with the tender tapestry
of which my thread’s a part.

Oh beauty, Kate! The worth of each individual soul is eternally precious and you've expressed the miracle of each breath which is often lost in the everyday rush of living..but not to you, you see in mundane things reflection of that miracle. Fine write...
