A re-write of one of my first poems.

CONFESSION

You can watch me, observe me,
listen to and search me;

analyse, bleed, biopsy, cut me;
test, distil, freeze or melt me

and you won't ever know me,
or uncover the source of who I am.

But you sure do know
how to make me feel
inwardly naked,
outwardly exposed.

Always vulnerable.

Kate,

So much conveyed in so few words--you've captured what I'm feeling spot on!

(((HUGS))) and love, Karla. :)

Kate, even if one does try to dissect and/or scrutinize us, do “they” ever truly know who we are? I firmly believe that those who make one feel vulnerable end up with the short end of the stick. One must be allowed to grow in order to experience the true benefits of such growth! Excellent work. Thank you for sharing it. Take good care and be well.

Reminds me of a poem I wrote awhile back, Kate. But yours ends with your heart open and bleeding. Mine was shut against the pain. However it hurts, to remain vulnerable leads to growth and strength. A hard lesson to learn. Ironic isn't it?
