Well, here they are... The Artist And Model back again. In the middle of the nth revision of a prose poem about humiliation, THIS just pops into my mind - huh?! I think they must be my comfort blanket and my safety valve when I'm feeling severely stretched... K xx
Hey, Dawn! This is the jolly tune whence the inspiration came! :)) Hope it works... no idea how you get the smart slide-bar thingey, have you? LOL K xx
He asked whether he could hold her palm –
to “write it”, he said;
to “read it”, she thought.
But, tenderly tracing
the lines with his fingertip,
he arranged their patterns
into letters of love.
Laying her heart- and life-lines together,
he formed there his initial.
He folded her fingers gently over:
“my life in the palm of your hand”, he said.

After the first reading, I went back and just "let it happen" and rediscovered my rather pervasive romantic self...and wept out loud at the sheer beauty of these oh-so-human visuals. Kate, sometimes a poem is written that, remove or add a word, and it would change. It's perfect as it is.
This is where the very soul of poetry breathes. I'm keeping this. I have no choice! (smile) katy xox
To me these are your signature pieces. You do them with such flair and always with the mood of this being your realm in which you are in full command. You set the tone and it's always sure!Like Dawn I can see a book of just this genre, being well received!

love it. if these are your comfort blankie, then parade around with the damn thing, Kate. every time I read one, I see a book filled with them, maybe illustrated and definitely sitting on the bookshelves or tables of millions... don't get me wrong, I love the ultra-literary stuff you do, too, but there's something so, seductive and real-life about these. Dawn
I have never read a poem as powerful as this and so sentimental. Love screams from it Sweet Kate and I wish I could find the kind of word expressions you use so easily in this one. Serene tenderness and beauty combine to make this a special treat.

So that's finger painting..Well I never ooo arr Mrs. As ole Frankie Howard would say..
WOW,WOW,WOW!! This is deep and captivating, Kate. The ending leaves the reader to come to their own conclusions which is great as you didn't spoil the story by placing your own spin on how it should end. Having an active imagination, I love things like this. I love to walk through a crowd and hear someone say something and from there I build my own story. Ahh the things we do to amuse ourselves, eh? Excellent writing. Bravo!!
Take care,
Sherry
The songs and art in this book are about our collective emergence after the pandemic and trauma of the last few years - comprised of 5 collections: World as Refuge, Where We Live, In Our Hands, Rhythms of Change and What We See & Sow.
