This reminds me of the thrush that signs it's most beautiful song just before it dies. Beautifully voiced poem as always Kate! methinks it's another of life's dualities, beauty of a rose just before it goes;-)
This poem sings as beautifully as the final rose of summer. Roses seem to feed the soul with their beauty, fragrance and gracefulness. They are my favorite "proper" flower and also my birth flower. So sweet is the rose and you have captured her essence perfectly in your verses. Wonderful lines and images! I will be thinking of you tomorrow. Thank you for your reply.
Take care,
Sherry
When my old, but precious rose plant, sings winter's hurrah I'll eagerly await her first bloom in spring. She produces prize winning blooms every year. I have added several more rose bushes in my back lawn and while the roses they produce are beauties, they can never top my 30 plus year old front rose bush for size and beauty. Great poem.
Sweet Kate you have done it again stole the thought right out of my head. I just walked up my pathway to my house tonight which is line with wild rose bushes and I saw the last two blossoms white as snow. LOL just couldn't figure a line on it. Anyway yours is special for sure and I love it.
