Honies, I'm home... and totally overwhelmed by all the love and concern I'm receiving from all you precious, precious people. Turner you KNOW you are an absolute STAR for standing in the gap for me: lunch together somewhere posh for you soon and another bottle of champagne! :)) xx Honestly, I really can't believe what I have been reading (WHO are they talking about?!) and I feel awful for "putting you all through it" for me. But, truly, I have never felt so much warmth and appreciation and makes the experience somehow "worth" it... hope that don't sound too weird, but you probably get my drift. Heigh ho, GOT to rest heaps and heaps, so reviewing (sob!!) will be a bit slow, but a couple of hospital poems to empty out of my "holiday" bag meanwhile... no sand this time, just surgical dressings and pain-relief! Hmmm.... :)) Diagnostic results this coming Wednesday and THANK YOU for your much-needed prayers. I love you all. Kate xx

BEINGSTALK

Embalmed in iodine,
swaddled in surgical dressing;
saline in one arm,
bloodied serum oozing
from my side.

My body now a foreign land,
alien territory
bounded by unknown
and horrified perceptions.

I escape, my fertile being
growing skywards,
a shooting umbilicus
from soft belly
of undaunted hope.

High above body's cancerous cage
my self is at play:
in a broad and spacious place,
Big Friendly Giant
strokes my hair like a harp
and smooths my tarred feathers.

Here I become large
with the expectation
of Spirit's miraculous
golden eggs,
knowing fairytales are
for real.

Kate,

"My body now a foreign land,

GAD. Ain't it the truth. When the body betrays us, it's hell...DON'T I KNOW. Excellent all around poetry, beautifully presented and written.

(((gentle hugs))) and much love (and many prayers), Karla.

Dear Kate,
I've only just heard the news and was shocked. I've had little or no access to the internet and have recently fallen in love and had an incredible experience with the man of my dreams. My feet have barely touched the ground but I did come to earth with a jolt to learn that my favourite poet on the den and such a special human being has been going through such challenges. I am in awe of the way you're handling things and how you can write such spectacular poetry as well. This poem is a testament to your bravery and to your artistic genius. You really are sumpin' else girl.
I lift you up and support you in prayer. Please know that you have many supporters and we love you lots!

I breathe a sigh of relief seeing this post here from you, Kate. Do get your rest and spend this time taking care of you. You flock owes you, so I would think you will be swaddled in warm blankets and healing hugs by them all. Our prayers will continue and my thoughts will remiain with you until your strength has returned and you are fully healed. We have all missed you and your sparkling wit, but for the moment, we will all understand that this is time for Kate to take care of Kate. Welcome home!!! And thank you for this post...fairytales are more real than the "reality" we adhere ourselves to.

Rest and then exercise all in due course, most happy the ordeal is over and recovery will mend you whole. Keep your happy sense of humor as that is powerful medicine also along with prayers which we all are bombarding heaven with.

The feathers. Sure have a new meaning. Kinda feather now symbolises hope. No not Bob Hope in the on the road films..
I was not worried a bit..Honest....
I can relate the body being a foreign land. My mum said a similar thing 30 yrs back.

Tell us about nurse Rachett.. Ed knows her well.
Rose Mary will still be ongoing of course.
Such faith and such a diamond buddy..

Be well my iccle buddy..

Fairytales are truly for real - and we love you, too, Kate - but as far as buying Little Andy a bottle of bubbly - let me think on that one for awhile - But Rest Heaps and Heaps, and Welcome Back!
