Kate your talent never ceases to amaze, it's metaphoric magic 'eieio' lol...the imagery is stunning too, saving this oh yus indeedy, I just hope your not 'Tess' such a sad end..bless...hehe, great tale though.
Kate! Wow, it seems as if everyone has already said it all! I LOVE THIS ONE! I too grew up a country/farm girl. but you put it in such a beautiful way in everything you had to say here gf! Keep up the wonderful work as I know you will!
I would say you've got too much time on your hands getting rested up, but then again I'm just too warm and fuzzy here in the amniotic fluid of your promising poetry. I have no idea what I mean by any of this, but this is fabulous. Dawn
the cold arms of winter melt when embraced by your heart's rejuentaed belly ;) ... a masterful poem, Kate ... seen through the eyes and emotions of a poet in a state of controlled flux ...
How beautiful and changing are the seasons and our lives. Oh! how we all wish we could hold on to our youth and savor the sweet wine that is the elixir of the lingering kiss of summer; but the promise of what is to come, lies in the belly of winter as she holds the seeds of promise and plants them deep in the soil to know rebirth in the warming days of spring. "To everything there is a season...and a time to every purpose..." This is truly an amazing write, Kate, and one to place in my library to enjoy again and again. Both humbling and empowering, this is wonderful work!!
Take care,
Sherry

Even with the Nordic wind. I don't think Karrot Kruncher Kate will get cold.
The third stanza! Never thought of it from that dimension. Only a Farm girl could think of such metaphors. It have the feeling of a soft feathered bed and pillow.
One lovely lovely poem. One for keeps..

A Masterpiece! Vocabulary plus knowing what goes where and how - it's easy, right? Sure. Anyone with a super brain can do it... and you did. Congrats. But, please - hold Winter up there. I'm a Southern Boy! - Bill
Good grief, Kate, you and I were on the same track...here I am missing my childhood winters in Mansfield, Ohio, and you post this powerfully provocative, passionate write...come on, winter!! Beautifully imaged and penned, bless you, my friend--BRAVA!
