Think my Tutors would have me leave this to "take as you find", but guess I am too much of a control-freak! Thoughts inspired by a media player visual - a relaxing experience I have seldom previously taken advantage of. K xx
FALLING TO MUSIC
Ambience Niagara:
Drumbeat pulses hearts in motion,
raises a soothing fountain causing
rainbow ripples from unseen sources,
flowing outwards in.
Coursing waters – anxious to meet,
never to touch – race converging
towards one held breath of confluence;
then plumes rise magnificent –
elegant, open-chested;
a slow-motion swallow dive
surging majestic to tumult below.
Deafening in its roar,
ceaseless energy overwhelming,
love’s gravity irresistible
as liquid she takes you down.
hee, hee... funny thing... I read this completely wrong, and yet it worked! I read the first line "Ambiance Niagara" as Ambiance Nigeria... and I immediately heard the drumbeats of African music with your next line...and the drum beats resounded throughout the poem and I thought you were telling the story of the music...until I glanced back up and realized it said NIAGARA...hee, hee...
Pretty cool that you can write a poem about Niagara Falls and yet take the reader all the way to Africa...
:~))

Yup I always go for the water.. Others are more like migraines.
Great take on this..
The image is spot on Kate! Dynamic vibrations put to vivid words that come alive. I can hear and feel it all, as I fall in the cascade of a musical climax ;-)
These are the kind of feelings I get when I watch some old Broadway musicals and I'm caught up in their world of acting and the songs drive my muse crazy and I want to write many poems but alas they go as quick as they come when the play is over. You have captured the moment very well Kate.
Questions, unquestioned discoveries, and answers in parable and rhyme…. This collection records a journey starting with a 1960s retrospective and the first man on the moon, moving to a new millennium welcomed in with a terrorist spin, family crises,
