Nothing on Earth renders more happiness than a bird's song. Birds are motivated by a flighty desire to grow, and they always treat themselves well with a song. They have no room for self-pity or self-rejection. Ask them, "Do you like yourself?" and you will get a resounding and a balancing act on the telephone wire. Birds have it all together and they live all of their life in the present moment. If I were a robin, I would sing you a song Kate, probably the Beatles' Revolution or Elton John's Crocodile Rock..."well I never new me a Valentine and I guess I never will!!" Elton Rocks, just married his man!

This is so lovely and uplifting. It is true that if we let the light in, the darkness in us will die. I am thankful for the sunshine here in my corner of the world.

just like everybody who has already read this and everyone who will, I'm scooping up your "Robin's Song" and claiming it as my new year's promise, Kate. have been in a bit of a dark, brooding mood but found myself today staring out at some cardinals frolicking in my yard. what I love most about this poem is its tenderness, the assertion that one is blessed "to start to feel" and "when you allow..." -- that feeling that the first step matters most and it is in the opening of ourselves and not entirely in the achievement of final effect that the blessing comes. This is such an empowering write, Kate. This life is ours and we are blessed to have been granted it. We walk our own pathway and along the way we encounter others whom we will hopefully enlighten with our perspectives on being alive. We are not here to muddle through the mire and believe that is living, we are here to soar and to become one with the universe and inhale the robins song that is being sung for us.
