No drinking water on the island, but a high-speed cyber cafe! Yey! And rum is cheaper than H2O, so if this don´t make sense, you´ll know why! :)) Besos, Kate xx

ANOTHER FINE DAY

i.

I wake cocooned in Paradise,
hammocked in palm leaves
swaying gently to birdsong -
myriad voices that herald
a cocktail dawn.

Beside me the sound
of low thunder, last rumble
of sleep. Placing
my fingers upon his lips
I silence the storm.

ii.

Like shards of painted glass,
sails shred the sky
and stain the sea,
boards pluming the waters
and feathering the sand.

Heat gilds the beach
like the haze of cheap rum,
slicing the colours,
sharpening the screech
of a pirate macaw
turning his tricks for
seeds and dubloons.

iii.

White lips of waves
glossed and smiling,
shiny and wetted
in translucent soft dark.

How hushed the cool sand
against dry-paddling limbs,
locked turtles mating urgent
shell to hardened shell,
breaking through the tenderness
of passion´s bronzing skin...

Either surf´s up now
or it´s raining.

Salude, Kate! This is a beautiful write making me long for traveling again. A bit of rum with a twist to grace your verses and press the sun against the water and the sand upon your soul. Wonderful impressions drift upon this page. Give the sky a kiss for me, please.
Take care,
Sherry
