Guess what?? Have come down with a painful bout of the 'flu today, as has Simon who left early yesterday morning for a week's ski-ing in the French Alps with our son! :(( It never rains but it pours, perhaps, so here's a topical one from the Venezuelan heat and dust to at least remind me that there ain't no flowers without the showers...

TROPICAL STORM


Mists of condensation
are cloudy walls;
liquid glass
windows the room,
screens the grounds,
slices the garden
into reflective shards
of pools and palms.

Weather's back
is broken.
Rain drives its relief
across textured oases,
hauling the sun
with vaporous ropes.

Everything is wet
and warm beneath
skeletons of green.
