VIRTUAL

“vir’tual: having virtue or efficacy, in effect, though not in fact;
not such in fact, but capable of being considered as such for some purposes.”
Chambers

“I burn like a feather
and soothe like a flame”:
the conundrum of words,
expectations of name -

soft filaments that scorch
and a heart like cool silk;
the dark that’s a torch
and the poison that’s milk.

Life is of spirit,
reality’s what’s felt;
the psyche interprets
however it’s spelt.

Sailing oceans of concrete,
what’s fact often fails,
but we traverse through our feelings
the manifold veils
of winds’ understanding,
from east and from west,
and gathering meaning
we furnish what’s best
to power our journey and
forge us ahead.

Reason’s an anchor:
by intuition I’m led.

Expressed perfectly. How beautiful that intuition answers desire, and it does, you know, Kate. Virtual is inner harmony of mind when thinking virtual thoughts. You are in a boat, you approach the shore, you throw the anchor out until it digs into the sand, you take hold of the rope and pull on it until your boat slides onto the sandy beach. What have you done? You have not moved the shore to the boat. You have moved the boat to the shore. Blessed Be, Kate.

Excellent write, Kate. It makes me think of commentary I did once that people like to dismiss virtual reality relationships when convenient to them or think they're not real, but the feelings and thoughts are strong; thus, the relationships are real indeed. The mind makes it so. This applies to many more situations in life than just this example. Evocative poem. ~~Nordette

my highest compliment to you........wish I wrote it....you do rhyme so well!!!! There is so much wisdom, here, along with hints of unknown.....things here that we are all touched by...

soft filaments that scorch
and a heart like cool silk;
the dark that’s a torch
and the poison that’s milk.

I love those lines!!

All things touch us in different ways, I believe. Especially depending on whats happening in our lives......but that anchor, that voice of reason, no matter whats out there on the unknown sea.........
it keeps us.............human.
ty for this wonderful poem........

We are living spirits....living fossils of the Almighty..
And through our senses, we navigate ourselves throught this Fallen World, especially our sixth sense !
Great and instructive light you dispel into your immediate environment and locus...:)

One's intuition is usually the very best thing to follow in this thing we call life, Kate.
