Yes, well, a pathetic attempt at Latin plurals... this is a repost dusted down out of the closet, remembered initially through Jude's "the Body Poetic" title, then by my stream of consciousness from my Brokeback Mountain "Say" write... and today by Nordette's most brilliant "Tango to the Death of Time" and even latterly by Dale's "Painted Bodies" poem... which just goes to prove this work's point, I guess... !! K xx

HOMOS POETICI

Natural cross dressers,
poets wear another's feelings,
inhabit each other's genes,
try to walk a mile
in someone else's shoes.

They apply each other's make-up
from diverse emotional palettes;

make considered choices,
blushing each other's cheekbones,
glossing someone else's lips,
shadowing another's eyes.

Loud and proudly they emerge,
come out in shared sublime:

mouths seared with words that are read;
hearts and secret skin tattooed
with brushings of a mutual kiss.

Majestic transvestic.

Kate,

I remember this the first time 'round; loved it then, love it even more so now. Clever. Unique. Crossdressers we are in each other's words and encouragement. BRILLIANT!

Splendid poem! this is why poets and clowns are closely related they have need of similar make-up, as relates to their persona. Another simile is the need for disguise, which true poets do so well. Beautifully done!

Gorgeous poem and so very true, as well. The poet takes a visual and turns it into a new life form to be savored by yet another. We are blessed to see through another's eyes, breathe another's breath, walk in another's shoes and embellish it all in the process, turning it into a much larger entity for the sake of relating to many. We are, in a way, each Don Quixote, turning a simple washbasin into a golden helmet to dazzle all who dare to dream along with us. Excellent poetry, Kate, loved this!
Take care,
Sherry

My contemporaries have taken the applicable words right out of my mouth. Praiseworthy! That is the one not yet used. This work has a Latin beat like no other. You have uncovered us... at last!

Sweet Kate, as always you captured your topic, the soul and heart of a writer so well. We do manage to change personas and personalities as the inspiration hits us. Never quite thought of myself a lipstick kind of guy but try anything once, lol.

Kate
This conjures up the whole kaleidescope and myriad of feelings and sentiments that we poets and writers constantly deploy to achieve artistic fulfilment and expression...
Sometimes it requires soft deft touches of imagination, and at other times straight and direct wordage and power play...
Majestic repost...:)
