"Each stitch counts" how true...first to last! There are some delicious allusions and images in this poem. I liked the central metaphor, and how you expand it with those images.
So exquisitely fine in concept, spirit, and implicaton, that reading TENUOUS makes the reader proceed from one line to the next with much caution, lest he should upset some fragile balance between the faith ordained by love and the courage allowed by hope. An entire little world sustains a reality of spiritual enchantment that makes these words something more than a poem dressed up in the black and white of a page.

Sometimes the stitches scares do tighten up after they're removed. Take it easy one day at a time. Do some excercises to loosen the scars one day at a time. Eventually, you will breathe easier.
Lol! You know me and thread :). The love for this vehicle in writing we share. So many analogies can be made from a simple length of string. But when you think of it every bit of our lives is measured and connected by "tenuous" threads. Beautiful!!!

Life truly hangs by a thread and as we all have seen, more times than we would like, in the blink of an eye all that we are, all that we know, all that we have and all that we love can change or be swept away forever. Every breath is a golden thread in the quilt of life and once exhaled, it leaves us only a memory that is but a whisper on the wind. Make the best of every moment, live today as though tomorrow will never come, love as completely as we can and laugh as through we have gone stark-raving mad. Let us not simply slip away...let our roar be heard until we have exhaled our final breath and then echo in the hearts of all whom we loved, for eternity. This is a beautiful reminder of how fragile life is and how letting even one day slip away, missing the beauty and joy that surrounds us would be an irreversible shame.
