Can I help it if this is getting embarrassing??!! :)) You know how it is... some people's words just cause images and pictures to spring up which then won't be denied until given some form of expression - no matter how feeble. What can I say? My thanks (or apologies!) therefore, again to the Big A, and to Maria.... And I am just off to Cardiff to see The Rolling Stones on their Bigger Bang tour... in the hope that Keith Richards has not fallen out of his poetic tree again! :)) I know, it's only Rockn'Roll - but I LIKE it!! A HARVEST OF LIGHT
“Dynamic lines that… capture beautifully the sense of velvet telepathy and silken revelation that lovers of the poetic word sometimes experience in the embrace of a voice both on the page and off.”
Aberjhani on Maria Lupinacci’s Morphology by Reading
The atmosphere is always strange,
in curious state of waiting:
the foliage gives off scent that is
more than ink on paper,
more than fine veins
imprinting consciousness.
The poem’s outline’s like a field,
its contents like the life of seed,
springing fresh upon the eyes and mind.
Words take root, prod fertile perceptive soils,
piercing soft blades into soul.
Understanding, like velvet hairs on a peach,
thistledowns a thought and coats a husky heart;
loose tendrils unfurl tentative fingers,
coiling about a person’s fretwork,
leaning and clinging like skin.
In stillness is the fruit enjoyed,
harvested by eyes, or picked by ears;
succulent to the taste and satisfying.
The poetry lover is evergreen,
never shedding a leaf
but resting and nesting in heavy boughs,
the canopies of words.
I stopped by your den to sample your poetic fare, dear Kate, and discovered a banquet spred for the thirsty souls of fellow-travelers who sojurn like you where "the atmosphere is always strange." I love the strangeness "resting and nesting" in your "canopies of words." Thank you for sharing this delightful poem.

I so love the light that shines throughout this poem, like strong light you suddely see among the trees, in a forest. I usually stop and look at the effect of lights and how it penetrates through leaves and branches.
The last stanza I found particularly moving, I like the image you depicted.
Thank you Kate,
Axilea

One of my favorite books is BEING GENIUSES TOGETHER by Kay Boyle and Robert McAlmon, and I generally am reminded of it whenever the chemistry of creative inspiration mixes to produce a work as sumblime and intoxicating as this. The harvest of the light of your genius is one that feeds and enriches us all. Much gratitude--

Dear Kate,
I just love it when one artist's work inspires another! This poem is a masterpiece ... truly one of your best (and you have so many)! I really like that final stanza ... leaves one with a feeling of true satisfaction yet longing for more. Your poetry is "A Harvest of Light".
What Aberjhani said on Maria Lupinacci's poem can definately be applied to you: "Dynamic lines that...capture beautifully the sense of velvet telepathy...."
That's what I feel when I read your verse. You are the quintessential poet and your words transcend time and space; thank you.
(((HUGS))) and love, Karla.

Very true.A good poem can be like just admiring the beauty of the sky,
without need of examination, just appreciation..
Let's hope Keith Richards dozen't get into trouble again for breaching the no smoking ban in Cardiff, he narrowly escaped prosecution for breaching it in Glasgow...lol
Incredibily deep and understanding write for your peers's poetry. It takes a poet of heart to see and pen all that is condensed here. You are a superior poet with the insight of a spirit.
Have a grand time with the Stones. I saw them in Liverpool when I was visiting my sister many years ago.
Love,
Susan
Sweeeeet! Such vivid and feeling images, yes feeling cause reading you can actually feel the textures of the word images you offer us. Sweet Kate this is a tribute to both poetry writers and readers alike and only you can present it so well. Thank you for sharing and say hi to Mick for me.
