For the past couple days I have been meditatin Louis MacNeice's "Snow", trying to ground metaphysical concepts in the concrete imagery of "A Room", like he does... Not really succeeding, but this is as far as I've got. MacNeice's is one of my fav poems, by the way... :)) LOL K xx
SANCTUM
Heaven is my room with a view –
drizzling down the patterns of walls
and sloping cloudlike across the ceiling –
forever changing, on the move.
Outside is weather: the incongruities
of life’s fantastic lies where no mystery is
but only fact’s deception, exposing its lurid flesh.
But here, breathing within space
of gill-like walls and blinking in light
of luminous panes, Paradise is at rest,
verdant in its bacchanals,
praying amongst perfumed pillows
and stilling all hostilities
in spas of herbal velvet.
Sunrise fires soft rainbows
through hard ornaments and mirrors;
Night falls, enfolds in quiet strength
like the dulling of oiled muscle
to soothe wooden bodies down.
Peace is at home as God –
His robes Truth-scented in twilight –
silently appears to trim the wicks
and turn the lamplight low.
One of your finest Kate.A glorious piece that ends with a divine perception of Creator, and what He means to those who know Him.
I love LM's snow, and "Prayer Before Birth"...I also love that Anais Sin quote you left, I have some of her quotes...another one
I also like "The dream was always running ahead of me. To catch up, to live for a moment in unison with it, that was the miracle"...The book sounds great, I may pop over to Amazon and order it;-)...ET
I'm not familiar with MacNeice but I do admire the blazing dazzle of metaphysical tension, imagery, and muscle he inspired in this write. Every stanza a small feast for the mind, heart, and soul. Gracias--

Wow the images in this are so surealistic it took my mind on side trips all the way through but the final image of a God triming the wicks is priceless. Well done Sweet Kate, this is divine or perhaps divinity.

Heapsa work has gone into this one. It feels like one of those poems
that you could be forever writing and never finishing... Almost an inside out poem...

You offer us a mirror and room this is beautiful being allowed to view and feel your expressions in writing. So much beauty evolved in this poem. Peace to you Dear Kate......
A buckwheat pillow filled with buckwheat hulls and nag champa joss sticks, I'm reading this from the eucalyptus state, Kate...soothing balm for the integrated you, expanding your personal capacities for awareness, spiritual, and intimacy...I see the peaceful shadows on the wall from your flickering candlelight...a catalyst for motivating in one's own personal space and loving their self-created metaphysical environment...it's a good way to live...

Love this creation! and just when I am preparing to meditate! Thank you :-)
"but only fact’s deception, exposing its lurid flesh." seems, to this writer, to be a revelational insight that provokes one to look deeper than is humanly posible.
There is spiritual insight in this construct that deftly weaves the corporeal and spiritual sensibilities into an amalgam that cries out for peace and understanding.
Does aging bring more spiritual insight?
The poet's mind is insular when her body is despondent, and she requires the right moment of mental and spiritual alignment, to create and extrapolate from the muse the necessary ingredients for the word picture.
I am duly impressed with this construct in terms of spiritual insight.
Your images are a meditation within themselves, Kate. You continue to raise the bar for each of us as we learn and evolve through your verses. My thoughts drifted into a gossamer house that had no floor and was suspended in the heavens. Like an umbrella of loving protection, I could feel myself elevating to the higher planes where the spirits merge and we all become a force of one within His realm. Fantastic poem, Kate, one to keep and savor again and again.
Take care,
Sherry
Yep, you're soooo right, Gorgeous... a case in point of my hopeless lack of grounding and clarity; here's the picture I was toying with:
Night softly falling on the bronzed, muscular arm of a master craftsman, lovingly polishing a beautiful piece of antique furniture, tired after a long day. I was using shorthand to say that the gloaming can soothe us weary people in much the same way...
Truly an inner sanctum worth visiting, you surpass yourself with this one Mizz MP...Totally bloody Excellent! Mi' keeping this 'un, we must meditate together someday...I'll see you on t'ther side;).
Nice bit of Yorkshire Brouge do you not think? LOL.
Off to mi' bed, just seen worst band in the world, so I need some respite LOL.
