These are notes, really... There are other layers of thought here trying to get out, but this is stage one... Whether or not I make it further up the mountain to the next poetic encampment with this remains to be seen... I can feel some prose comin on with it! :)) LOL K xx

CASTAWAY

Drifting, alone...

Alone in the bottom
of a rudderless boat,

steadied by lilting tide,
secured by wide-armed embrace
of benevolent sky and unblinking eye
of an ever-watchful sun.

Drifting yet anchored,
moored alongside a shared imagination,
connected to an uncommon fertile bed.

An undercurrent of oyster thought
soothes and rocks my pearly cradle
scooped from rolling waves;

lullaby streams lovingly hover,
kissing my eyes with sleep;

shoaling my thoughts like molten stars
into bursting nets of dreams;

spraying me with a galaxy,
a bubblewrap of seafoam,

rolling me up,

unfurling the sails,

taking me away.

There are many of us on the verge of sailing away, submerging, or changing our situation. You write it well. And, I must say that the writing course you took during the warmer months has paid off handsomely. Please don't get too deep for your simple fans, but you're onto something here, Kiddo.

truly, a stunning poem that infiltrates the very core of your being as you control steering into the direction drifting through "nests of dreams" ...

Kate, I'm joining those who vote for these thoughts to be kept as is.
I cannot begin to tell you how I identified with these "layers" in my own stream of consciousness and life. It did take me away...
Love,
Taylor

This is a lovely piece, Kate. I enjoyed it as is, but you're right: I also see the birth of a prose. Great work.

Nice notes. If you make it up that mountain, we will all benefit. If not, we are still ahead from reading your work. Either way, we all win.

Wow, this is fantastic and ranks with all the other great writers of poetry England has produced. You wrapped me up with this blanket of poetry so that I thought I was living it myself, it was so real.

Kate

Has a warm, cozy feel to it,.. like a content baby safe and secure within its mother's watery womb, attached by the umbilical cord of unconditional love..

Yep...can sense that prose wave on the horizon too...heh

Blessings

You may disagree but I love this as it is. There's a finality about it, almost like its a final goodbye, but in a good way. Anyway, I liked it alot.
