... In danger of sounding like a detergent advert here! :)) A nice spin off, I thought, is that a flock of wild geese in flight is also a skein... LOL K xx

CRISP, CREASED AND FOLDED

Spring waters soften, bleach and rinse
minds darkened over time.

Fresh breaths of wind inspire new life,
inflating new sublime.

What was so limp and ragged-clothed
dressed energised and sharp;

bright colours weave across taut threads:
clear notes on strings of harp.

From imagination’s golden skeins
silk’s woven, pressed and moulded:

soiled thoughts transformed once more by light –
made crisp, fresh-creased and folded.

Never has so much thought and care been given to dirty laundry, to sanitize it, spread it finely with metaphor and make it fodder for the intelligent mind. Crisply presented, Kate. ~~Nordette

Thank God for cleanliness and the feeling that we take for granted, at times...but never can do without.
You did this wonderfully.
Love and merry Christmas!

I can smell lilac and lavender Lenor/comfort, must be 'cause I'm rather fond of clean stuff. Your imaginative skeins have worked wonders here Mizz P' you could make even the most mundane of domestic bliss sound poetic...even hoovering the pub LOLOL.

A very Merry Xmas to you and Yours Kate

I love the way you connected this "air of the spirit" to laundry, Kate. I suppose that there is not a whole lot of difference, but if that is true, please let me be line-dried. I just love the smell of clothes dried outside in the sun and fresh air. Merry Christmas and a very happy and healthy New Year to you!
Take care,
Sherry

Love it...especially how you transform soiled thoughts carelessly into crispt, fresh-creased and folded ones. Very creative my friend.
Full of wonderful imagery...

Love it, Sweet Kate this conjures up vivid images of lines of white laundry swaying on a clothes line in the breeze. How true it is that with each new write we can wash clear the thoughts and feelings that marred our hearts and souls. Beautiful as the lady who wrote this.

This is imagination gone STRAIGHT... for a change!
All of the neat package reminds me so much of an old song from my generation, titled, "Straighten Up and Fly Right"
And another from back there somewhere: "New light on things makes the dullest itto things of beauty."
Boy, I'm hot today; waxing well with things I know little about!!
