PAX NOBISCUM

What purpose the sun but to
colour my skin, teaching me
tolerance?

Why maps the tide, listing its needles
‘gainst constant shifting
blueprint of sand
but to illumine a design?

My vaporous thoughts cannot give
light or shape to invisible wind
or lend purpose to a darkened moon.

But without hope or agenda;
prejudice or plan, I can say
“this is me;
here I am.”

"here you are" truly--a modern poet preciously at work extracting through PAX NOBISCUM the subleties of reason that too often elude us in the glitter of their rhymes. Sincere gratitude for the read.

Oh...my dear poet friend...please forgive the following. I am in an
utterly screwball mood today, and simply had to pen up a satire in answer to the above:

PACKS NABISC0
Without agenda, long list or plan, She approaches her desk
Carton in hand.
Nibbles away on crackers, the while
She scribes funny verse
With wickedest smile.

I may add to this yet, and post it today. Hee hee

BTW...Your poem above is SUPERB!

Hugs,
AMF

The ethereal imagery, the mystic atmosphere makes it a perfect read. Did I see a bit of elliptic construct or is that a dangling modifier (S1), and again I wonder "why" maps the tide...that leads a chain of thought.

I've been pondering purpose lately and the people who say there is no purpose nor cause and effect. I like your phrasing in this poem, Kate. ~~Nordette

Accepting one for whom they are: that's all we ask, but don't practice in reality. A powerfully thought provoking poem of compassion, excellently penned: well done!

I see you share my philosophy of "Here I am, like me or don't." We must be true to ourselves and never try to be anything that we are not. It doesn't take a mental giant or even an overly aware individual to be able to spot false pretense. Shaping ourselves into the person we feel comfortable in being is both an amazing feat and also very freeing. Smart penning, Kate.
Take care,
Sherry

You pen self examination in thoughtful humbleeness.
A rare take on admitting that we are tools of the elements
Did I miss anything in there? This is quite provoking...
