... Got heaps of notes on my desk about the light/dark exchange but not the patience to work with them.. Hence a lazy repost from April 2005... Two years' ago... TWO WHOLE YEARS!! Oh my goodness!! :)) K xx
NIGHT FALLS
Light turns tide,
is swept into chinks of dusk.
Sponged by night, day blots away.
Ink-stain sky descends
nibbling world's fabric.
Winds exchange their shades of black
shuffling decks of bright.
Now is nervous tension;
yesterday's tomorrow seeps
into floods of gathering shadow.
Like mists of black rain
dark hands close round me;
draw me into night's soft shell
with faint rustle of a kiss.
This is absolutly magnificant! Night is such a tender refuge from tomorrows and yesterdays, and you capture it beautifully! Thank you for the inspiring share. Anna
Two years huh Kate!

Now who could ever consider you lazy Kate...your poems whether 3 years old or from the immediate pen are labors of love. This one alone has helped me concoct a perfect first line I have been looking for. Your work remains my fovorite and a flowing source of inspiration.
Love,
Taylor
I can totally be in your "space" with your verses here, Kate. Also. I'd like to know where the last two years went. You touched my soul, sweetie. Love and peace to you,
time flys when you're having fun Kate ;)
I loved this, thought I had reviewed it
cause this is a second reading or I guess
you did say it was a repost...it does age
us but how wonderful to go back and
find something you wrote that is this good.

As I read about the "heaps of notes (...) about the dark/light", and then through such splendid images like "ink-stain sky descends", "yesterday's tomorrow (my goodness... just this line, in itself a poetic masterpiece, totally knocks me sideways in gasping wonder, whew!) seeps into floods of gathering shadows", and then "mists of black rain", the words of another literary master come to my mind. In one of his extraordinary novels, my very favourite Portuguese writer, Eça de Queirós, describes the mood of one of his characters as "being shrouded in several dark crepes of superimposed melancholy"... LOL! Well, sweetest Kate, I think that this description is as brilliant (a paradox... brilliant darkness, LOL!) as this whole poetic version of a deeply melancholic mood - and I don't care if it was written two years ago; Eça de Queirós wrote that line back in the nineteenth century... and not a tiny iota of its glow has been lost... so there! LOL!
(The last two lines are also to die for... and die in a profound state of contentment, too! Just beautiful!)
Lots and lots of xoxox & love,
Alexandra*

Thank the Lord for the nighttime, for it brings out the stars to which I can set my compass and set sail for shores of dreams.
Love the "yesterday's tomorrow seeps
into floods of gathering shadow."
What a profound "report" to have been delayed 2 whole years then delivered so dynamically in 2007. Greatly enjoyed this moody metamorphosis from the fragility of inner balance to the see-saw of uncertainties. The poet's pen shines like a light on shadows many prefer to avoid.

Perhaps a lazy post but your writing is as fresh as 'yesterday's tomorrow'. Your new and inventive phrases are always a joy to read.

As always your words rock the paper with their sublime beauty and mixed textures. The images you create are always unique and intriquing and even if this is a repost I am sure those like me who have missed it in past will truly enjoy it tonight. Great work sweet Kate.
it begins with such a meloncoly sensation, i was surprised by the entrance of the kiss at the end and delighted at the uplift... Two years...it flys by doesn't it.
If you tend to believe romantic, passionate, masculine poetry is a thing of past eras, read "She Intrigues Me," and be swept away in the beautiful craft of a contemporary poet of love.
