As I walked past Sea Shanty (the name of this houseboat) yesterday, I was reminded of this poem, only to find, on returning home, that it was the EXACT date I wrote it last year! And what a year it has been for me, representing a time of massive growth, change and personal metamorphosis. It follows that it is also almost a year since I have had my seaside house, and I have to say that this particular stretch of beach is STILL my most favourite spot. A special day revisited. Love, Kate xx :))
QUESTION
In this place rocked by winds and hushed by tides,
This person – flesh, blood, bones; soulful hues, moods, tones;
Not alone but accompanied by, in the presence of,
close-coupled and inextricably linked
Under this one leaking roof, domiciliary, permanently resident,
liable for all bills and matters pertaining to existence
Not Tom, Dick or Harry but the owner of your shoes and collar size:
Would you be inclined to, able to
bear it, wear it, help it or hack it –
Cute little houseboat.
And yes it does look livable.
Grounded on rock eh?
What a life......

Dear Kate,
This poem strikes me as a person who is fully aware of themselves, knowing both their faults and the gifts they have to offer. When we accept a person into our lives, when we truly love them, we take the whole package for what it is.
If you're talkin' to me..... the answer is a quick, YES! And if it's merely a part of your wistful and invitational poem, Hell, the answer is still, YES ! ! ! The odds say no, but you're bucking the odds, my dear lady... you're outdoing those who taught you enough to get that Masters in writing. I love your house boat (mostly house) and I'd love that restaurant, Me Darlin' Like When? - Bill

Could one live with you there? But of course. In this world that turns everything topsy turvy, your poetry is always full of beauty and sanity. Victor
Darlin RC, sounds delightful, but, as you can see, this old Sweetheart is firmly built upon the rock and ain't gonna be puttin off anywhere... But I gotta get me a picture of that back porch... Forget the fishing... it's sundowners all the way to dawntreading guaranteed.. besides, The Seafood Restaurant is a mere 200 metres away... at low tide! :))
What a cool introduction.
I love bloody mysteries like that.
And you, dearest KB, beautiful woman and talented writer, are assuredly a person of 'soulful hues'. . . hues most mysterious and fulfilling and often verging on genius, a bloody talented brainiac that takes her readers on fantastic voyages of the heart. Yeah Baby!
As per your last question ... only if we put a motor on it so we could putt around the bay and fish off the porch. (-:
Wow. You give me pause for thought, Kate. Verses and image complement one another most effectively. Thank you for sharing this gift. Love and blessings to you,
nice to revisit your Sea Shanty and wonder about its inhabitants. smiling at your fine year by the seashore and living a little vicariously 'til I can find my own mountain hideaway or bit o' seashore, Dawn

Oh...Kate...I love the verse and picture both!
And never apologize for a 'revisitation' of a loved place...there are too few inspirational 'little things' like this anymore.
Hugs to you.
Well it's close quarters Kate and probably far from amenities of civilization. Big on nostaligic beauty and togetherness, small on convenience, so it's a perfect test of compatability. Love the poem.

Funny how you get memories then find out it's the same time from the past.
With the right Lass I'd live in shoe box in middle of road and lick road grit for breakfast, dinner and tea..

Could I? Oh sweet Kate that would be a fantasy come to life. A beautiful beach, waves lapping in, the smell of a salty brine, a houseboat and a wonderful warm hearted passionate woman with a twinkle in her eye to inspire and share the view with. Who could everr turn that down. Love it Sweet Kate, someday I will walk your beach and visit your beach house.
Oh Kate - this is wonderful, the poem and the revisiting, and the Sea Shanty - i hope your next year is your best ever, love to you - Nicky x (and the one after that better, and so on...lol...did you notice that life gets better all the time? :o)xx
I love when things like that happen. As for living with you, might you consider bringing the houseboat to the Canadian wilderness? We sure could use a new one!!
Using Calgary as a backdrop the author satirizes the self-serving nature of the public as it continues to fatten itself, not only physically, but egotistically as well.
And yes it does look livable.
