This is a workshop exercise piece, based on selecting a colour and layering it, like a wash... Well, something like that! Hope you're well. Love Kate xx

FIELDS OF GREEN

Like light filtered through fronds
lining my sleep-shut eyes

spring air finds me: the scent
of fresh sap rising, winter-white

with a tinge of green - tea-green,
as the faint haze steaming

from my early morning cup. Night
has shed its forest dark with its

linger of needles and fern. Tossing back
waves of sea-foam bedding, I cross

to the window to gaze upon grass
still heavy with dew's mossy footfall.

This poem is sweetly touching. You reach out to the reader with muted tones reminiscent of the theme without heaviness or imposition. Nicely done.

A well textured poem. I like the use of the senses ('the scent
of fresh sap rising', 'faint haze steaming', 'waves of sea-foam bedding' et al). A lovely vista for the eye. Good work.

It evokes images of a time-guarded land, where an ancient entity slumbers, waiting to be freed from its imprisonment, perhaps a quest to embark upon, to retain some powerful artifact, or a behemoth to slay that holds the key. All this and more, the poem evokes, like Tennyson's grand idylls--By Jove, Kate, you just shifted something in my mind aside and revealed a breathtaking vista--and now I have to hurry away and start writing =D

Well you definately layered the colours and they blended wonderfully in the spring morning. You also offered a glimpse at your own marvelous awakening that when co joined with the scenery becomes a delight to behold if only in my own minds' eye. Loved it Sweet Kate,

Kate, I could feel the dew under my feet (and they had turned green from my walk in it). I do believe you passed this exercise because you had me visualizing every color of green and it was layer with other colors. A great write!

I knew with the title that I would love this poem. You are an artist and your poetry appeals to us artist.
This is a canvas of water colored shades of azures and limes and celery tints. It's a beauty and a treasure!

Reminds me of the way that the guy from Chile writes, with a spontanious and passion using colours.
Can imagine quite a lot of effort has gone in to this.
Very vibrant, full of rich visuals....
