Ooooo... The Truth is out there! My attempt at Spielberg or Bruckheimer... :)) xx

SHADOW LANDS

Active by moonlight,
diligent workers
sow strange starseed,
grow petals of dappled shade
curling stamen up to Mars.

Careful to crush
no soft stalk of grey,
they stake shape-shifting shadows
beneath sullen boughs of trees,
trim shimmer from tall bushes,
clip slivers of stray light.

Sifting through grains of darkness,
they uproot the blinding throttle-weeds,
clear prepared and fertile soils
of promulgated lies…

Retinas uncloaked by their eclipse
are given light to see, wake unveiled
to daylight in silhouetted landscapes,
their field of vision cleared to view
unseen territories between.

Kate - this is superb - it floats and shimmers silver greys -silver greens and earth, and has made me feel some more nostalgia for Winteriness! Takes me to Engerland - got some Spring in it, this poem of yours - is this why it floats and shimmers?! i get up at dawn for some of these greys, watch the Dove's family breakfast in the palm tree before the sun comes shining on everything - not exactly winter! your last verse is *faints* fantastic! First line especially - super! eyes stretching beyond the end of fingertips, 'field of vision cleared to view' :o)Great Poem, Nicky xx

Kate,

This is quite a cosmic garden that you sow my friend. You are an enlightened visionary my friend. I love that second verse the most. Peace, Love and Blessings Always, Paul.

Awesome wording. My favorites: "clip silvers of stray light" and "Retinas uncloaked by their eclipse"-- I'm a sucker for alliteration, but this is more than that. There are so many boiled-down words here, like "uncloaked"-- so much scope for the imagination. --Charlie

when a shadow lands on a landscape where its field of vision is limitless, all that share the trail of its inception, are bound to return to the roots of their own origin ...

really well developed images, Kate ...

You must take fascinating walks at night. Sounds like a dreamscape to me. I'll have to look up "promulgated" - no onscreen dictionary at the moment. You are an unsual poet with distilled concise verse to match your imagination...

I loved this look into the darkness in a forest that is eclipsed with rays of light that produce shadows that dance in the mind of the beholder as they are consumed by the silence except for the critters that go their merry way and offer solace to the stray wanderer.

An out-of-this-world visionary, you take us to new lands and stark visions in words never strung together that way before. Masterful and intriguing probing of matter and matters unidentified and unsolved. So, there! You give us good stuff. -Thanks - Bill

Ah, I love those "shape-shifting shadows," Kate. They are the stuff that is ripe for speculations and . . . fright. This poem is saturated with the visual, although the visual is sometimes difficult to see or murky in its understanding . . . This is what it is supposed to me . . .

Reminds me of the Spanish moss that hangs on the old Southern Oaks here...blocking out the light from the "beneath sullen boughs of trees"...with "grow petals of dappled shade, curly stamen..."

Your words mesmorize me! and your "Shadow Lands" must be here among Spanish moss...it's just gotta be...:)
Love and Peace~

Very interestingly unique Sweet Kate as only you can make these special affects come alive in your poetry. I think you are on to something here and if Spielberg was a poet he would love this as much as I. especially lofe the ending that leaves us wondering what lies ahead in those unseen territories and will you be taking us to see them in the near future...

I can hear that soft, crisp, posh english accent saying this.
BTW shadowlands, one of my fav films, still brings a lump.
Stanza two is other worldly. Why don't you record your poems on itunes, and get a contract for just 99c a download, you'd be in mega money for a good cause, like erm , the AJT is a good cause fund, lol.. well a needy one...

Paul, if you read this, down ooo arrr Dorset in feb/march....

Expanding visions of the unseen...or the seen but not visibly, it seems you are expanding into the mysterious thoughts of even the ones who have found fame from reaching and grasping the mystical of illusions...

or is it just my imagination?...

What shadowlands? You inspire poets to reach deeper inside themselves and make them see between the lines. This is beautifully penned wonderment; the last stanza soars. STUNNING!!

In the Whirlwind by Tichaona Chinyelu

In the Whirlwind is a poetic storm that frees history from the cages of corruption and puts it in the hands of everyday people. Words are weaved into a new fashion statement that has nothing to do with runways but everything to do with projects!
