SUB MANTLE

You know I hate the cold,
out here,
swaddled insular in technicolour layers
like strata of earth’s crust.

You know I hate the cold as,
ball-like,
I have to be led, carried,
curled or rolled.

Your breath’s elaborate choreograph
dances clean away from waxy lips,
teasing into question marks;
you know all sound is muffled
as I peep from within my hooded fur rim.

You know I hate the cold as I can’t
feel my fingers.
But I feel your smile and your eyes
warm me molten right down
to my unseen core.

WHO is "Rumi like,?"
My dear Kate, we seem to be in the thralls of winter meditation, you and I. I loved this piece!
Been away from the DEN again (for any appreciable length of time, anyway) but am always thrilled to read your masterpieces any time I can get away to do so.
Thank you so very much for your support, and may those warm smiles continue to keep your sweet little personage comfy.

Your verses bring to mind the thoughts of the joy of a cold days walk along the shore, chilled to the bone, but then the anticipation of warmth coming from a cuddle by the fire. enjoyed

YES, YES, YES, what lovely images, i can see your divine face peeping out of the hood. The kinda lass where you give her your coat and pretend you ain't freezing, lol.
The honest vulnerability melts a blokes heart, as nowadays many women would freeze to death than act like a real woman, letting a geezer act his roll, which is diminishing due to so much false femanimal pride....
I have to be led, carried,
curled or rolled. <----- love, love, love it....

A poem by a real woman, not a zine fake, brillo....

That image of the choreographed breath was breath-taking. The whole poem breathes hyperbolated fun, but my toes are nearly numb... you saved them with the molten core. Thanks. --Charlie

I love the cold; I always have. I'd much rather be cold than hot!! I can't take the heat; as I grow older, the heat is getting harder and harder to live with! Living in this oven we call Texas in the summer does NOT help! Very well penned; brava!

(((HUGS))) and much love, your friend in America, Karen Lynn in Texas. :)

Ahhh Sweet Kate, why is it I can see so much of you in this write. All I could picture at first was this great big good year tire guy type coat of quilted fill with the red tip of your nose and twinkling eyes peaking over a big wool muffler...but...
When I read the last tow verses your warmth and passion melted it all away and a new image of you snuggle up in front of a fire wearing a cozy sweater and soft flannel lounge pants as you sipped on a mug of hot chocolate and for some reason found it very sensual. Great write dear one to be able to flash two such strong images in one write is magic.

you embody the chilly frailness like frostferns on a window.....and how the single warmth destroys them [but in a beautiful way.....a welcomed destruction for a woman]
i love the dancing breath from waxy lips [all chap[ped]sticked up and glossy smooth] but also recalls how they are so malleable, kissable. .. smushable :}
this is so intimate----love walking along, dismissing all hardships. ..
