UNSPOKEN

“The unsaid, for me, exerts great power:
often I wish an entire poem could be made
in this vocabulary” Louise Gluck

The blank page. The altar
I am not worthy to touch
and the hill I’m not fit to ascend.

The silence I dare not shatter
with the ripple of a murmur
or the clatter of idea.

This whiteout of words
is ocean-skinned
with reverence,

deep as the well primed
by a beating heart;

lofty as the upward-trained eye
of a God who conjures all that is
from the nothing as yet unspoken.

Peace be with you always with such and many numerous writing you have. You should go far in this world and into the beyond when God is ready for you. Many inspirations come from the words you write and I can tell you love your writing and life and long for everything to be at peace and well. Thanks for the encouragement.

Very intriguing, mysterious, thought provoking... I really like "the clatter of idea".
So much is unspoken and so much of our world is left unsaid. But somehow I believe that all can be done through words, those that sound true, those that are true to the heart and mind.
Yes, I am an idealist and I love it! ;)

Was tempting to leave a blank review, but you prolly guessed that...
Hoowever, or even however. I see this from te paradigm, that when we are closest to God, no words suffice, just being in His presence is all.... Once again you write of the apophaic. Where words are a barrier, and being with him like this is more beautiul than words.....

Speachless....

Dearest Kate,

I truly enjoy the "unspoken" words and reading between the lines. I even tend to write in a way that leaves many paths unexplored so that the reader can make their own way through the forest of my thoughts. Creation is constantly evolving, especially in an artistic sense.

Love & Light always and in all ways,

....a resonant affect through [i would imagine] mostly women; never feeling good enough, valued, heard, or having anything of worth to say in the first place. .but we would be wrong [and so would the guys if they ever know this rawness]- --it also feels like there is more to be felt, to be said, to be heard in what we do not say; what we hold inside is far more beautiful and breakable, fragile than any.thing we put on display; and that last stanza God hears what we wouldnt even dare cast into light. ..
heaven forbid-- -i would pray that 'you' do not ever feel this; ascension is truth, whether told or untold be. ..
this feels nearly divine in its adoration of the unseen; the unheard...the need to be both- --and such loverly allegorical images invading. ..permeatng that white.ness

WELL, I find this poem to be deeply spiritual, and I love-love the inner rhyme, "shatter" and "clatter"-- but my favorite parts were "ocean-skinned w/ reverence", "upward-trained eye..." on to the end... infinity... profoundly, bottomlessly, never-strike-the-bottom-ly awe-struck by an Almighty Mind. And Louise Gluck, I look out my window on a clear day, and I see such a poem: The Teton Mtns from Idaho's point of view-- I just don't think there's a more gorgeous sight to behold. Amazing, the things He conjures up... --Charlie

I truly enjoyed this work sweet Kate, and it says so much of the vunerability of the poetess to commit her heart and soul to the written word for fear of not feeling worthy. A poet who is not humble when competing for words on paper against the likes of Poe, Wordsworth and Shakespeare is a fool. We dare not do anything less than to strive for their excellance as well.

Awwww.... shucks... thanks you guys! :)) xxx But I never even thought of this "I" being me when I wrote it. I usually write most of my poems in the "I" voice cos somehow the Shakespearian actress just rises up in me... the Dame Glenda Jackson takes over... But rarely do I mean "I" to mean "me" in the personal sense. Wasn't it Anne Sexton who said something like "When I write in the "I"-voice, that is just the time I am wearing a mask"?! K xx

I can hear you, and understand that you are writing this with a great deal of humility, but also with much more in the way of positive self . . . The unsad in anything can be a powerful statement, ask anyone who has had the silent treatment bestowed upon them . . . The prime-time quote in this poem is "deep as the well primed / by a beating heart;" and that, my friend is "you," and you knew it when you wrote it . . . Great poetry today . . .
