Dream on, People ... xxx K

LOVE BIRDS

Men with feet of stone
speak thoughts downcast –
rough words bruising the heart
and battering the mind.

Women with hands of steel
have tongues like knives,
hacking flesh from bone
and filleting idea.

But children of air
feed on the wing,
rise on inspiration’s whispers,
dispersing seeds of change
that cultivate the earth
with fresh swathes
of soul-enriching harvest.

They hover above muddied soils
in their multi-coloured feathers,
dusting off the world’s despair
with the promises of rainbows.

Children... the hope and promise of tomorrow... surround yourself with them and your world is filled with rainbows (or chaos, or gray hair, or.... laughter!) There is never a dull moment at my house!

I loved the imagery in this piece... but can't help with the 2 million.

Your mastery and command of words brings this delightful tale to life, it springs right out and talks. Love of the sea, it does not get any better....

Be always safe,
Karen

We need many more Love Birds, these days. And I wouldn't buy that island; it might be underwater, very soon.

You are whimsical eh? lol Kate, it's always rainbows
or pipe dreams but that's what makes the world go round.
...and those 'tongues like knives' is kinda scary but
makes a great 'filleting idea' or is that a delight ;)
I do hope my feet aren't stone like...

Beautiful poem!-- "Children of air" are the only true love birds, aren't they? Do you suppose that we could make a million or two by selling off some of these poetic jewels? Maybe we could do a "We are the World" tour-- but with poets instead of vocalists?

I put my thinking cap on, and now I can imagine you there-- hovering above the Hudson's muddied water, fanning your multi-coloured imagination over the multitude so fast, that the colours blurr, and make a murky kind of rainbow... It's a nice view. --Charlie

Anyone who loves Spring and its birds has a jujmp on life, and this tells it well. With what you have going for you, who needs an island. (the two million is another matter). This is good and light for the coming of warmth and life, renewed. Luff' - Bill

You give much to us with this offering. A violent, physical life for both the man and the woman, but somewhere in the mix is a love of the land and sea, sharp tongues and steel hands notwithstanding . . . And of course, the children . . . Children to carry on tradition and maybe one, or two, or more to break tradition and go off and educate themselves and return with wonderful ideas to make life better, not as violent and physical for the next generation . . .

Ah sweet Kate, I picked a good day to return to the den with and offering such as this to review. I love it and the idea that children are the hope of the future...I watch my young grandaughter and see the love in her eyes for all, I see here learning sign at only four years old so someday if she meets a person with a hearing disabilitiy she will communicate...so many things are young ones are doing and accepting that we never...they are the future. As for the Island...my next book is about a haunted Island called Devil's Island at the mouth of Halifax Harbour where I may be spending a few weeks to complete manuscript.ohhhhhhhhhhhh
