DREAMS ARE

the reason I crave darkness,
curling myself naked in the
soft crook of night, its arm
in the dent of my waist,
holding me together.

The reason I choose blindness,
their continuous reel spooling
on a screen of shuttered lids;
their sticky webs pixelating
my fresh-skinned eyes.

The reason for my deafness,
their perfect shaft of sunlight
diving pristine through my window
without splintering the glass;
their muffled hooves echoless
down the shadowed halls of slumber.

The reason why I’m dumb,
my wordless thoughts translated
into animated tongues;
my clumsy actions centre-stage
exposed by spotlit beams.

Excellent. Smothers me in a sea of resurgent dream memories - you've nailed the experience. What more can I say? Words are of little use in the domain of dreams.

I think the first stanza is my favorite, wonderful images there, one of those you wish you've written :) I like that you showed that our senses come alive in another way within the world of dreams. I also love the 3rd stanza, more great lines, especially that last one.

As I scroll down the words you presented on the screen with such insight and wisdom, I am quick to empathize with and walk side by side with you in these feelings and thoughts. Often we chose a type of invisiblity cloak similiar to young Harry Potters but it is an emotional one that covers all our transgressions. Anyway as always a joy to read and review your thought inspiring writes Sweet Kate.

...at first this read like henel keller.... But then reading this from the right side of my brain. Oh my i see such depth of your beautiful soul, as you write about four of the 21 senses we have, yet many others are within your words. Reading this with such slowness and thought, then forgetting that and just feeling the poem brings out absolute beauty and the romance and stainded glass windows of your words...... Just "I crave darkness, curling myself naked" < HAH, had visions of scummyness until i got over it, lol...

Such a dreamy write, by such a wonderful pal.

In dreams we have the power to do and be anything, prince, princess or pauper and anything inbetween. In dreams our thoughts come together to present us with a path unique to each to follow, well said...

...what dreams may come....
sleep perchance to find a deeper meaning of any innuendo, of any self iamge, of any deeper passage into the psyche [cupid and his love.r]. ...i love the soft repose you take in this grey.lit ambience....closing so many parts of the w.hole to the aches and pain[t]s of the harsh day light. ..

Dreams are a mixture of many things to me, I am entertained, bewildered(mostly), embarressed, frightened, teased and mostly confused by my own. I use an online dream dictionary at times of most confusion, and believe it or not the sucker, does show me the symbolism of the dreams ALWAYS relates to my current thought or situation. Your write is a nest of familiarity to me, well done KB

Kate, you have so many gorgeous lines in this. I love it. The first time I read it, somehow I missed the title, and just read each stanza as if it were a complete thought. It didn't really work. The first one did, kinda: "the reason I crave darkness: curling myself naked in the soft crook of night, its arm in the dent of my waist, holding me together." That seemed like a reasonable reason to crave darkness... The second was a bit confusing, but it was okayish: "The reason I choose blindness: Continuous reels spooling on a screen of shuttered lids" But the next was kind of confusing: "The reason for my deafness: perfect shafts of sunlight..." It just was clumsy. I was about to hang it up for later, and tell you off, but the next one was spot-on: "The reason why I’m dumb: my wordless thoughts translated into anima[l] tongues" So I was determined to read it again, editing as I went, to make it make sense all the way through, but upon returning to the top, I noticed the title...OH! DUH!!
What can I say, it's perfect (as usual), and I have nothing to report that would make it any better. The reason why I'm stupid: vivid imagery flowing across animal tongue?
You write good. --Charlie

Interesting grouping of words and phrases . . . Strange thing is, Kate, I understand where they are coming from and hopefully where they are going . . . Well done . . . but then that is redundant, isn't it? . . . Especially when it comes to your work . . .
