ACHILLES’ REDEMPTIVE ANGEL

She bit off Worm’s head,
burped a thousand butterflies:
Heaven’s wings restored

I love this. My interpretation is that we have the power within ourselves - a matter of perspective - to transform whatever we choose (either by default or intent) into that which most becomes us. And, in so doing, we align ourselves with the Divine Plan or, as you say, "the wings of heaven." Love the creativity here.

Sometimes...maybe always...we have to go through nasty bitter things in order to metamorphasize (I am sure I spelled that wrong) into our own beautiful butterflies.
Sometimes, when going through those awful things we chew on them...yearning for what we thought we would taste maybe...or what might have been... when, in reality, if we would just burp and be done with the meal we might be able to see the redemptive nature of those vile tasting worms...and only after can we really appreciate how blessed we are to have the wings to fly away from the nastiness of what has been and soar on new heights.

Loved the write and the clarity it brought to my mind of my own redemptive angel...whom at first I was angry with, but with whose help I have now learned that I can soar.

...hard work...restoration...but in so few wondrous words Kate...you renew the beauty of wings...releasing color in large numbers...the works of an angel...become you.

I want her as my guardian angel! (Do you know how I can get in touch?)-- Sometimes my wings get worm-ridden... and she knows how to spin straw into gold-- doesn't she?

I'll give her my heel-nibblers, and she can make me a palace (with maid-service, of course)... and I'll hie to heaven on my new wings to visit there every summer, while the real worms nibble at my garden far below... --Charlie

Kate this is indeed a striking write that would make the Angels flitter around in a tizzy trying to figure out why she was so excessive in her world. It is lovely written though and gives the reader reason to pause and contemplate it.

A thought provoking Ku my friend, reminds me of that old cliche that we have to take the bad with the good! Sometimes we have to get over the bumps in the road before the path becomes smooth...oh my I think I could go on with several cliches with this captivating write, don't know if I'm on the same thoughts as you...but it sure has stirred some emotions and thoughts within me and that's just what great poetry does! Well done!
Blessings,
Joyce B.

sometimes bitter with that worm.... but the truth of beauty comes out in the breaking: all those chrysalis butterflies.. . as if we can make heaven on earth simply by swallowing a few prides. . . a few egos. .. .how one can become light by screaming into the dark. you jsut make me want to dream.
to be a prettier [internal] person.

this is a complex little ku here. the biting off the worm part I guess represents all the hard work you have to go through to produce great works. And yes a thousand butterflies for Heaven is good. Wonderful write once I got by the worm. Liz

Oh, I love this one, Kate - the images you pen! The second line gave me a chuckle (guess the wings were too fizzy for her), and the third - restored hope and beauty - well done!
