SUNSET

The time of golden windows
we step through,
we step from,
like carriages of a train;

out of shattered daylight
into velvet-antlered stillness
that carves forest nights within.

Astral spirits push the sun
down, down, down beneath
false-rumoured lip of day,

truth’s twilight tide then
quickly rushing in to light
bright, young planets from
last sparks of our sunlit gaze.

What a beautiful poem! I can hear the hush of eventide and feel the coolness pressing in as the sun makes its descent. You paint such pretty pictures with your words.

This one is very poetic and provokes the mind into wonder. It is very sensual also...very lovely writing.

If I may be so bold to suggest - this seems the perfect companion to my recent post, A Forest Night. Our poems seem to share in mysticism and unity, which I'm sure lends to my kinship with your beautifully chosen, most eloquently expressed words.

I think it is wonderful, the way you make us live it, not just watch it or admire it...but take part.

you capture the transition between night and day with an excellent array of imagery ... "truth's twilight tide" very nice alliteration and luv "false-rumored lip of day" ... a very unique perspective ... sunset is indeed a "time of golden windows" ....

"...Astral spirits push the sun down, down..." ghost creating with a sunset the shadow darkness where lovers can hide from preying eyes...

At that moment of sunset, the world is so quiet so serene, just in that moment when the sun slips from our view, it is then that all that must be known, is seen. Sunset is a magical time of the day for me, it is the end of the toil of a well spent day, and the beginning of the evening's pleasures.

Nice poetry Kate, I love to read your work always!

Much peace,love and sunlight,
Amber

I like the imagery in the first stanza and you carry it through as you open the door to the dimension that only the mind can visualize and become part of the universe in spirit and thought. Neatly conceptualized.

As always Kate you explode with origianality with each write you splash on the paper for us to read and this is no exception. Great lines and descriptives and as smooth as an milky way song.

Kate, a visionary sort of approach with this shining piece of poetry my friend -- many fabulous lines, thoughts, impressions -- I am particularly enamored with the unique perspective, "Astral spirits push the sun - down, down, down beneath - false-rumored lip of day" -- how fabulous and engaging is that! -- may peace and love be always with you my dear friend -- Jon Michael
