... an increase in forgetfulness and the desire to sleep: is this my age or a sign of the times, I wonder?! :)) xx

TABULA RASA

Now the gates of day are closing
and walls of night advance,

I have need to unpick memory
right back to its first dropped stitch,

to its last faded inspiration and
meandering wobbly seams.

Now the halls of dark approach
and corridors of light diminish,

I’ll present myself wide-eyed and
stripped to bare forgetfulness,

smooth-draped in sleep, cushioned
in soft swaddling-bands of dreams.

I try really hard to keep track of important things in life by keeping a book, I am on book 16 now from over the years. Now I will always remember life as we grow older, I believe it do come with age. Great write Kate.

A creative poem, Kate. I know how this feels. Maybe we naturally recuperate this way. Hugs,

I wonder sometimes is it possible to format our brains like we often do to computer hard drives :) leaving aside the pun. I found it a rather serious take on the topic, what if we can all be in that dream, dreaming inside dreams inside dreams inside dreams....

Sleep can be so much fun ... I wouldn't worry much about the increased need of it; remember the wicked never rest, so you must be gaining the clarity of the heart, my friend. Hummm ... night, night ... sweetest dreams.

what our minds receive before the impressions gained from experience are the precursors to the original self ... nice work, Kate!

I find sleep very therapeutic and of course, it opens the door of dreams. I am glad I do not often experience insomnia. As for forgetfulness, I used to (as a child in particular) be able to memorize and remember things so quickly; I'm afraid that such is no longer the case. I think there's just too much information in my "hard drive" lol! Thank you, Kate. Love and best wishes,

Regis

Gorgeous weaving here.

Oh, this is quivering with a fresh crop of images!
It's wonderful.

I have heard that we women are supposed to have memory issues at our age, It's hormonal...at least THAT's what I keep telling myself every time I drop a stitch!
Blessings,
Christine

Ah, sleep comes to the fortunate ones who can stitch together their past deeds and deposit them in the closet of nevermore. A peaceful night sans inopportune wake-ups is a blessing not everyone can claim. Love the method you used to express yourself, Kate.
